The exhaustive study connects human actions, and carbon dioxide more specifically, to the longer droughts, more intense heat waves, and shorter cold spells that have plagued the United States and the world for the last few decades. Scientists are worried that the Trump Administration and EPA Director Scott Pruitt will block the study from going public. The EPA must approve the study before it becomes official, but Mr. Pruitt denies human influence in climate change. The study makes no official policy suggestions, but highlights the importance of curbing global warming to under two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
