COP22 set its sights on cities, towns, and regions around the world taking action to meet the targets of the Paris Agreement during discussions Thursday at the climate conference in Marrakech, Morocco, Eco-Business reports.
“Climate action in and by cities, towns and regions will be instrumental in ensuring that we stay on a 2 degrees Celsius pathway, aiming for 1.5 degree Celsius,” said Gino Van Begin, Secretary General of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, at a press conference on COP22’s Action Day for cities and human settlements. ICLEI is the global network of over 1,500 cities, towns and regions committed to building a sustainable future.
