Here Are 7 Quotes from Leaders Ban Ki-Moon, Michael Bloomberg, Al Gore, Jim Kim, Jeff Sachs to Join the #ClimateAction Conversation

There's a big conversation on climate happening in Washington, DC over the next two days - here is an easy way to join in and advocate for action on climate change.

Only two weeks ago, an unprecedented number of leaders came together to sign a United Nations accord known as the Paris Agreement in New York City. On Thursday, the global community gathers again for two days, this time in Washington, DC, to discuss solutions to climate change that will usher the Agreement forward.

Climate Action 2016 is set to focus on six areas that non-profits, the public, business and governments can all partner on together, namely “sustainable energy; sustainable land-use; cities; transport; and tools for decision-making.” Day one of the conference saw a robust conversation both at the conference, as well as online, trending on Twitter in the District.

Here are seven ready quotes and share graphics to join the discussion:

“Cities are important because that’s where the problems are, that’s where the pollution is, and that’s where the people are.” Michael Bloomberg

“I’m very optimistic — we’re going to win this.” Al Gore

“Together we can build a world we want, a world we’re proud to leave our children and grandchildren.” Ban Ki-moon

“When it comes to sustainable development – every country is a developing country.” David Nabarro

“Economic growth in some regions will be cut by at least 6% just because of water scarcity alone.” Jim Kim

“If you can’t imagine and understand the world without energy access, a world where a nurse in a hospital holds a torch between her teeth and prays that the power won’t go out, we won’t get there. So we will tell the stories.” Rachel Kyte

“We have all the knowledge and most of the tools to do it right – This is about governments taking the courageous decisions.” H.E. Mr. Mogens Lykketoft
