Before The Flood, Leonardo DiCaprio’s new documentary on climate change, paints a troubling picture of the state of our world’s climate, but also highlights clean energy technologies around the world that can help to turn the tide on this global challenge.

The documentary, which airs on National Geographic channels on October 30, takes the Oscar-winning actor around the world as he visits five continents and meets with everyone from Pope Francis to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors.

DiCaprio was joined by President Obama and scientist Katherine Hayhoe at a screening of Before The Flood at South by South Lawn, a daylong arts and innovation festival modeled after the annual South by Southwest festival in Austin, but hosted on the lawn of the White House.

At the event, DiCaprio told the crowd, “This moment is more important than ever. The science is in. If you do not believe in climate change, you do not believe in facts or in science and therefore, in my humble opinion, should not be allowed the honor of holding public office.”
