President-Elect Donald Trump has named Scott Pruitt, Oklahoma attorney general, to head the Environmental Protection Agency, Chris Mooney, Brady Dennis, and Steven Mufson report for The Washington Post. d
In recent years, Pruitt has dedicated himself to fighting the very agency he’s being nominated to lead – Pruitt joined a coalition of state attorneys general to sue the EPA’s Clean Power Plan and recent EPA regulations to curtail methane emissions.
These criticisms, as well as Pruitt’s statements that the debate on climate change is “far from settled,” leaves many fearing for the future of policies like the agency’s Clean Power Plan, a policy of the Obama administration aimed at reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions from the electricity sector.
