Germany will use its G20 Presidency to push world leader toward a global price on carbon, Thorsten Herndan, Director General of Energy Policy for Germany, told Roger Harrabin of BBC News.
Herndan warned that the world cannot hope to stabilize carbon dioxide emissions without making polluters pay. Herndan also said that the German government is preparing research that will show businesses’ overwhelming support for a transition to a low-carbon economy. This research will be presented at the G20 in Hamburg in July, the “central forum for international cooperation on economic issues,” Harrabin reports.
