All But Two Countries Are in the Paris Climate Agreement. The U.S. Could Be the Third.

Leaving the Paris Agreement would put the U.S. in the company of just two other countries -- war-torn Syria, and Nicaragua, The Washington Post reports.

If President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement becomes a reality, the U.S. would be stepping back from an agreement supported by 195 parties (193 countries, the European Union, and Palestine) to join the only two countries on Earth not participating in the climate accord — war-torn Syria, and Nicaragua.

As The Washington Post reports, “[t]he U.S.’s withdrawal would be especially striking because developing countries, most of which are in the agreement, have a much harder time cutting emissions.”
